The Plasma Cannon was developed during the early days of the Paranid Civil War, by the Holy Order of the Pontifex, building upon the High Energy Plasma Thrower. Similarly, skilled pilots are also able to evade and avoid being hit by such attempts. Skilled pilots are also able to hunt down smaller targets efficiently, either by deploying the Plasma Cannon at short range or by predicting the courses of the projectile and target. Unlike short ranged weapons such as the Shard Battery and the Split Tau Accelerator, which outperform it in damage output and are more suited to attacking capital ships from a blind spot, the Plasma Cannon's greatest advantage is its range. This results in its predominant use being against capital ships, where swarms of fighters deploy Plasma Cannons to great success. Its drawbacks, slow projectile speed and fire rate, made worse by high heat generation, can make landing hits as challenging as it is important. im quite sure it will have more content. The Plasma Cannon combines high damage output with long range. Surely it is not everyones cup of tee so :) if it isnt just see about the next X titel. But how at the same time not wanting to play it as an X3 is a task one has to find out. I think it is also a question on how you grind your way up to space domination. Additionaly with some traders in your fleet you can just send them on trade runs here and than and do what you want in the mean time. :D it is a possible way to get started and gives you also the feeling of playing hands on. Even so I'm a bit further into the game I just came into the Albion system and captured 3 frighters and a light sul in like 2 hours while doing a diplomacy quest along side it. There are quite alot of trading ships to capture flying arround. Also start preparing for catpuring ships in the eraly stage. as this gives you a good starting point and something to work for. I found the start in Omicron with an Pharma Lab in your belongings is quite nice. as soon as you start building or upgrading your first station and own a few ships :) becomming a manager isnt so bad and hardly different from X3 in my opinion. Instead you look up stashes or find boxes. But as you quite well pointed out, the beginning of the game lacks somewhat the possibility to do the earning yourself. Well as I see it I'm earning money so that I can not only own ships but people as well. That is the only real comparable game as you can only compare genre leaders with genre leaders. Is this new edition of the 17 year old X better than the 13 year old eve online?. However this version takes away half of one of the games still leaving you with a game and a half, But I can't help missing the part we have lost and I am still unsure as to weather that was not the most important part. The content was so huge with so many avenues to explore that you could play any one aspect of the game and love it without the others. Making it one of the greatest all time games. A great FPS with a seemless transition into a space sim. In summary X3 for me was in other games terms, Football manager and pes combined or Gran turismo and GTA combined. I am still unsure if this game is going to retain my enthusiasm when I am effectivly spending all my time earning money to buy ships for other people usually when I see a Big number in my cash I think great I can buy lots of stuff for me, Now I will think great I can buy more stuff to earn more money. I guess my problem is more with the fact that my freedom has been seriously reduced and I have been forced into being a better manager rather than hands on, In the early game I used to quite enjoy running around in a hauler trading now I have been reduced to the role of bodyguard.
